UV Systems for Commercial Kitchens

Remove grease, odour and fire risk from exhaust air before they become a problem. As a certified partner of the manufacturer we plan KPC systems and support you beyond commissioning.

Clean exhaust air without filters or chemicals

Jimco has been developing UV-C systems for commercial kitchens since 1992. The Kitchen Pollution Control system, or KPC, is the only system in the world with EU Environmental Technology Verification. McDonald's, Scandic Hotels and many others have used it for years.

How it works: UV-C light destroys grease particles directly behind the grease filters in the hood. Ozone, naturally produced by the lamps, oxidises the remaining residues in the exhaust duct. The duct stays clean, odours stay in. No filters, no water, no chemicals.

GastroAir is a certified partner of the manufacturer. We are your direct contact for planning and service.

What the KPC system delivers

  • 50–85% grease reduction in exhaust air, verified and ETV-certified
  • 95% less fire risk from clean exhaust ducts without grease deposits
  • No duct cleaning needed. One McDonald's site went 7.5 years without it
  • Retrofittable into existing hoods, directly behind existing grease filters
  • Low-odour exhaust even at sensitive locations or in residential areas
  • EU Environmental Prize and the only system worldwide with ETV certification

How photolytic oxidation works

No new chemicals, no combustion. UV-C photolysis and ozone oxidation working together.

Step 1: UV-C light

The UV-C lamps sit behind the grease filters in the hood. As grease particles pass the lamps, the light destroys their molecular structure. This process is called photolysis.

Step 2: Ozone oxidation

The same lamps naturally produce ozone. The ozone further oxidises the broken-down fat molecules and decomposes them completely. Whatever remains does not deposit in the duct.

The result

The exhaust duct stays clean. Odours are broken down before the air leaves the building. Kitchens in city centres or residential areas benefit directly.

Installation

The steel frame with UV-C lamps is mounted behind the existing grease filters. In confined spaces installation directly above the hood is also possible.

Maintenance

The lamps run for up to 12,000 operating hours. Then we replace them. That is all. No filter changes, no cleaning chemicals, no hazardous waste.

Documentation

We provide full documentation for fire safety authorities, insurers and internal maintenance plans. As a certified partner we can also provide normative verification.

Who benefits?

Any commercial kitchen wanting to reduce grease deposits in the duct or control odours at a sensitive location. The difference is most noticeable in high-grease kitchens.

  • Restaurants and hotels in city centre locations
  • Fast food and chain restaurant operations
  • Staff canteens and institutional catering
  • Hospitals and care facilities
  • Food production with cooking exhaust
